Example
Registered M-PESA customer Musa Shirima needs to send Tsh 65,000
to his mother in Tanga. Mama Shirima (who is also a registered
M-PESA customer) has no money in her M-PESA account.
Musa must have at least Tsh 67,000 in his M-PESA account. He
sends Tsh 66,500 to his mother via M-PESA. Tsh 500 is deducted from
Musa's M-PESA account as a 'Send Money to Registered Customer'
transaction fee.
Mama Shirima is notified via SMS that she has received Tsh
66,500 from Musa. Mama Shirima's M-PESA account now has Tsh 66,500.
Mama Shirima goes to an M-PESA agent in Tanga and withdraws Tsh
65,000. Tsh 1,500 is deducted from Mama Shirima's M-PESA account as
a transaction fee for withdrawal by a registered customer.
The Tanga M-PESA Agent then gives Mama Shirima Tsh 65,000 in
cash!
If Mama Shirima is an Unregistered Customer?

sends Tsh 65,000 to his mother via M-PESA. Tsh 2,000 is deducted
from Musa's M-PESA account as a 'Send Money to Unregistered
Customer' transaction fee. Mama Shirima is notified via SMS that
Musa has sent her Tsh 65,000. Mama Shirima goes to an M-PESA agent
in Tanga and withdraws Tsh 65,000 cash
